The park boundaries and names in Pawprints come from OpenStreetMap.

The data Pawprints uses

Pawprints adapts OpenStreetMap parks for dog walking: it trims lakes, rivers and coastline from park outlines, leaves out places that are not parks for walking a dog (stadiums, golf courses, cemeteries, private land and similar) and simplifies outlines. That adapted database is available under the same license:

• us-parks.json.gz: 160,073 US parks (about 110 MB)
• park-decisions.csv.gz: every OpenStreetMap area considered, and whether it was kept
• How it was made: the query, rules and scripts
